High Hopes Challenge #46 (and after that...scroll down for news on a DT call!)

Hello everyone! Wow it seems like so long since I last posted a new card! My apologies, but as you might have read on my blog, I had some unexpected surgery a couple of weeks ago. Boy, did it ever set me back! But, I am back on my feet and hoping to keep my fingers inky! Thanks again to all those who sent get well wishes. They were much appreciated!
This week I am playing along in the High Hopes Challenge. For this challenge, we are to make a birthday card. I am using one of my favourite High Hopes images, Leo. He is just too adorable! Take a look:

As always, I've coloured my image with Copic markers. Leo was painstakingly (I'm not kidding here...take a look at his mane!!) cut out and popped up on brown cardstock cut with my Nesties. The design paper is Basic Gray, and the card base is Bazzill. Normally, my cards run a bit on the "girly" side, but this cute little lion lends himself very nicely for a more masculine card! I raided the garage and found some twine to use instead of ribbon for attaching the sentiment, giving a more "rustic" feel! You never know where you will find your supplies for your next card! Here is a close-up:

I've set a record for myself by posting twice in one day! Keep scrolling, grab a cup of coffee or tea and take a look at the news below!

Thanks so much for stopping by!

Blessings,

Melanie

Humble Pie Design Team Call!

Hello to all! I will be back later with a new card to post (finally!!), but in the meantime, let me share a little something with you all! For the past two months, I have had the privilege of being a guest on the design team for The Town Scrapper . Phebe has asked invited me to be a full team member of her design team! My answer of course was yes! Thanks again Phebe!

Now, if you have been watching my blog, you will have noticed that Phebe has launched her own line of stamps! Phebe is sending out a challenge for some new DT members, so if you are interested, keep reading below!

We are a Canadian stamp company with a brand new line of stamps, and a brand new challenge blog (still being developed - scheduled to go live on World Cardmaking Day - October 3, 2009)! We are looking for Senior Design Team members who have a passion for paper crafts, and stamps (both digital and rubber)! Your coloring of stamped images should be your strength - whether it's with Copics, or watercolor, or any other medium. Previous Design Team experience is not necessary, but would be an asset. We welcome international applicants. You should have an active blog (post at least 3 times per week).
We will be taking submissions from now until October 10, 2009. So if you are ready to become a part of a brand new stamping and challenge blog adventure, and can follow the guidelines below, we want to hear from you.
As a senior member of our DT, you will be asked to:
1. Create 4 projects a month using The Humble Pie stamps, by participating in weekly blog challenges. You may be asked to work with digital images.
2. Participate in Blog Hops, to promote release of new stamps, approximately every 2-3 months.
On a weekly basis, help promote/advertise Humble Pie Stamps and The Town Scrapper (on your personal blog and to any message boards where appropriate).
3. Provide quality scans/photographs of all projects as well as posting any related tips/tricks
4. Have an active blog presence on your personal blog
5. Commit to a 6-month term beginning October 12, 2009

To apply, please send the following information to me by email:
(email to Kim, DT Co-Ordinator, love_10s @ hotmail *dot* com)

4. List your current DT/designer/site commitment(s)

6. Create 2 projects that showcase your style and abilities. One should be a card with a colored, stamped image. The other can be anything you want, but should also include a colored, stamped image.
7. Post these two projects on your personal blog, and describe them in detail. Add any tips or tricks that you have used in the creation of your projects. (brownie points for using Humble Pie images! ;)

As a Senior Design Team member for Humble Pie Stamps, you will receive:

Baby Gingersnaps!

Happy Saturday morning! I am happy to report that it is around 10:00...and I am still in my jammies! Wow, I have not had a relaxed Saturday morning in ages! However, it is time to get going with the usual Saturday errands! Thought I would get this card posted before my day gets too crazy!

Today I have a card for you made as a part of my guest DT spot for Phebe at The Town Scrapper. These cuties are from CC Designs Gingersnap line. I LOVE them! Phebe has a great selection of CC Design stamps! Baby cards are so much fun to make!

All images are coloured with my Copic markers. Now, the camera could not pick this up, but this little mommy-to-be actually has a "baby bump"!! I used some mulberry type paper so that it had a bit of stretch, and stuffed her little belly with fibrefill. There seems to be some misconception that when a lady is pregnant, her belly becomes public domain...anyone and everyone just has to give her belly a rub! I for one hated that when I was pregnant! This mommy, however, will not complain if you give her little belly a rub! I instantly fell in love with the little baby bug image in this stamp set...so much so, that I could NOT stamp just one! I had to have a whole army of little bugs! haha. Hmm, will she have a girl or a boy?? The little babies actually have squiggly antennae...but because I wanted to cut out and pop them up, I had to cut them off. I printed this sentiment out on my computer, but the stamp set has a couple of cute ones included. I used a few layers of Nestabilities to mat the images on, and the sentiment is cut from the ribbon tag trio also from Spellbinders. Lots of pop dots were used on this card!! The DP is MME...I really love this paper which is available at The Town Scrapper . The colours are so pretty in this paper. Phebe I need to pick up more of this from you!! A little bit of machine stitching and voila! Here is a close-up of the image:
:

I had so much fun making this card! Go out and see Phebe...I guarantee you will find something (probably a lot of somethings!) that you love at her store. She has new stamps arriving! I will be bringing this card out to Petrolia for display in her store (see...now you can go give that "baby bump" a rub!!), and I plan on picking up some new stamps!

As always, thanks for taking the time to look in!

Humble Pie Blog Hop #3!!

This candy is now closed. Thanks to all who played along. I will announce the winner later today!

Welcome to our third Humble Pie blog hop!! We are so excited to introduce the new “SWEETIE PIE” stamp line, and the Humble Pie Design Team to you!!

My blog is the fifth blog (of 6) before you get to Phebe's (The Town Scrapper) blog to enter for a chance to win an awesome prize!

Here are all the designers participating in this week’s blog hop. It isn’t absolutely necessary to do the blop in this order, but it is important that you visit every blog, and leave a comment on every blog, in order to be eligible to win the prize.

Kim
Amy
Angie
Tricia
Melanie (You are here!!)
Phebe

Today, as part of our third Blog Hop, I am offering up a card kit– which includes some printed (not yet released) images from the new Humble Pie, Sweetie Pie line, some paper and embellishments. I will print these on Neenah cardstock, which is a fabulous paper for Copic markers!

Today I am showing a card I made with Ellie. Heather Hambleton is the illustrator for all of the Sweetie Pie line images. She has created some fantastic whimsical characters! Heather is a very talented young lady! We are so happy to have her as part of our team!

I stamped Ellie on Neenah cardstock and coloured her with Copic markers. I added a little sparkle to her eyes with a Copic Spica pen. The design paper is My Minds Eye (available at The Town Scrapper). I matted Ellie on some Nestabilities and inked all the edges for a distressed look. Ellie kind of strikes me as having a "rocker" type personality, so I added some funky orange highlights to her hair. The sentiment is my own...printed on my computer. I tried tying my buttons with some twine, which seems to be quite the trend right now with paper crafters...I'm thinking I like this look and will use it again!

Here's the closeup:

This stamp, as well as others will be available for purchase only at the Town Scrapper! We are taking pre-orders now, so if you want to be sure to get your stamp, give Phebe a call, (519-882-0623) or send her an email... info@townscrapper.com.

How do you win my blog candy? Leave me a comment today on this post to let me know you were here, that you are doing the blog hop, and that you want to be entered to win this prize from me. You are only eligible if you comment here before 11:59 p.m. (EST) Thursday, September 3. I will pick and announce the winner on Friday.

AND, that's not all! Phebe is offering a grand prize to those bloppers who leave a comment on all 6 Humble Pie designer blogs, AND link up this blop, and prizes on their own individual blogs! After you have commented on all six blogs, you will end up at Phebe's blog. So, you will need to go to your blog to post this blog hop's details, (and pics of the grand prize), and come back to Phebe's blog and link us up so that we can take a look!

The grand prize includes a full 6x6 Basic Grey Lemonade paper pad, and TWO Humble Pie rubber stamps - "Dusty" and "Flower Maggie"! (I posted a card with Maggie a couple of weeks ago, and you can see a sample with "Dusty" over on Kim's blog.)

Have fun hopping, and make sure to take time to look around all the blogs! These ladies are talented artists! Good luck on the give-aways! Now, off you go to Phebe's !

Have a blessed day,

Melanie
