Circle Challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps...a Zoodles Birthday!

Good morning and welcome to another

fabulous and fun Saturday Challenge

This week our challenge theme is:

Circles

I pulled out our adorable Zoodles stamp set for this week's challenge. I started with an A2 sized card base in plain white cardstock. The background was created in two simple steps. First I placed our So Many Circles stencil and applied Charming Chartreuse Ink with a blending brush. Keeping the first stencil secured in place, I layered our Leaves and Vines stencil over top and applied Mossy Meadow Ink with a blending brush. Remove both stencils and voila, a fun circle-y background to fit with our challenge theme! I then stamped the animals from Zoodles in Wicked Black ink on Neenah paper and coloured them with Copics and a few coloured pencils for additional shading. I fussy cut the images, went around the edges with a dark marker to hide the white paper core and adhered them to the card base. The sentiment is from the Party Time Sentiments set and was stamped in Wicked Black ink.

Each Saturday we post a brand new challenge for the week and you are welcome to enter as many times as you like.
These must be new creations and you are welcome to use any stamp, however, using Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp products will earn you double entries!

Inspirational Wednesday at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps...What's Up Dude

It's INSPIRATIONAL WEDNESDAY at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!

It's my turn to play hostess for this weeks's post.

My card features this cool guy from our What's Up Dude stamp set. I started by creating an inked background using our Brick Wall stencil. I first inked a panel of Neenah cardstock in our Granite Grey ink. Next I placed the stencil and inked over it with Ruby Red ink. To "grunge" up the bricks, I then added touches of Marvellous Mocha and Wicked Black ink while the stencil was still in place. After removing the stencil, I further distressed the brick by sponging around the edges with more brown and black ink, added some black coloured pencil and finally splattered some black acrylic paint to complete the wall. I stamped the sentiment from the set in Wicked Black ink to look like graffiti. I then sketched in the sidewalk and coloured it with copics. Our "dude" was stamped on a separate piece of Neenah cardstock in Totally Taupe ink, coloured with Copics, fussy cut and adhered to the background.

If you want to add the What's Up Dude stamp set to your collection,
visit the KKS Shop
and find it at 40% OFF this week!

Thanks for visiting!

I used a combination of three sets for my card. I stamped one of the adorable beavers from You're Gnaw-some and coloured him with copics. I also stamped the hat from Party Piggies and positioned it on the beaver's head. These images were both fussy cut and put onto a background made with our Sprinkles stencil and Mermaid Melody ink (I also added a bit of sparkle by adding Stardust Stickles while the stencil was still in place). The sentiment (stamped in Wicked Black ink) is from Party Time Sentiments (this set is currently out of stock, but you can add your email address to the store page for notification when it restocked). Today we're sharing sneak peeks featuring a brand new set from Krafty Artist Cheryl Alger..."Birthday Lulu". The set includes three main image stamps and several coordinating sentiments just perfect for all your birthday cards.

I used the image with Lulu holding a tower of presents...isn't she sweet? :) The papers are from MME. She was matted on a Spellbinders Lacey Circle and the pearls were made with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen. The decorative border was made with a Martha Stewart border punch.

Lulu was stamped on Neenah cardstock and coloured with Copics. The sky was sponged in with blue ink and I added some grass. I paper-pieced her dress and shaded the paper-piecing with Copics.

Skin: E000, E00, E11, RV95, R20  Hair: E50, E31, E33, E37, E59  Sock and bows: RV000, R81, R85, R59, C9  Boxes: R81, R85, R59, C9, BG72, BG75, BG78, C9, YG03, YG25, G17, G20

Birthday Trinkets...a Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Sneak Peek!

Hi crafty friends! It's almost time for another release at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps and we're kicking off the sneak peeks today with a brand new set of "Birthday Trinkets" designed by Krafty Girl Nicole Aspinall! The Trinkets are so versatile. They are perfect to use in combination with your stamped images or just on their own as the focal point of your card. They are also great in scrapbook layouts, journals, tags and smashbooks.

I made a little 4x4 card so that I could use up some scraps of MME paper. I stamped out this fun Birthday Trinket on kraft cardstock  with Memento Rich Cocoa ink. I thought I'd try my hand at making some little pinwheels with toothpick handles to go along with the fun sentiment and font...I love that the Birthday Trinkets have a variety of fonts and designs! I used my Spellbinders Circles to cut it out and matted it with brown cardstock and a Lacey Circle cut out of kraft cardstock. The flourish is an MFT die and the pearls were made with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen. I also pulled out the In Stitches Set to add some faux stitching in the Memento Ink. This is such a great set to have on hand for when you don't feel like pulling out a machine. :)

SNEAK PEEK BLOG CANDY: Pop on by the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Blog for links to all the Krafty Girls sharing sneak peeks today. Then hop around to their individual blogs and leave comments for your chance to win a set of "Birthday Trinkets"! Kimmie will draw one winner who's name will be announced tomorrow on the KKS Blog. Good luck!

Canine Capers...Day Two of the November Kraftin' Kimmie Sneak Peeks!

***This is my second post of the day...please scroll down or just click HERE for the SCACD Release Day Blog Hop!!!***

Welcome to day two of the November sneak peeks for Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps! Today we are introducing the newest offerings of Krafty Artist Emilie Goulet...she has created two fabulous sets featuring a variety of adorable pooches!!  The sets are called "Canine Capers 1" and "Canine Capers 2". Each includes three main image stamps and an assortment of coordinating sentiments.

This playful Dalmatian is from "Canine Capers 1". As always, Emilie's characters have such personality...I absolutely love this spotted pooch!! The plaid paper is a scrap of October Afternoon paper that I had kicking around. The other design papers are from My Mind's Eye "Breeze"...I love that the papers in the collection lend themselves so well towards masculine cards.

Ummmm....looking at this picture I just realized that I coloured the ball to look like Earth. lol

The Dalmatian was stamped on Neenah with Memento Ink and coloured with Copics. After using my markers, I added some additional shading with a brown Conte Crayon applied with a blending stump. Can you spot the HUGE mistake I made??? It's really obvious on this close up. The teal polka-dotted MME paper has lettering in the dots...and I glued it on UPSIDE DOWN. DOH! I managed to accomplish this feat even after telling myself REPEATEDLY to make sure that I glued it on the right way! lol This pooch was pop-dotted for a bit of dimension.

Copics: W00, E40, E42, E43, C3, C7, C9, R22, R27, R46, R59, Y17, BG000, B32, B34

Here's a look at the inside where I used one of the sentiments that comes with Canine Capers 1:

***BLOG CANDY*** Make sure to visit the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Blog to check out what my fellow Krafty Girls and our Krafty Guests have created for today sneak peeks. Oh, and don't forget to leave comments on everybody's blogs today for your chance to win...and this time there will be two lucky winners! Kimmie is giving away one set of Canine Capers 1 and one set of Canine Capers 2!! The winners names will be announced on the KKS Blog tomorrow morning.

The Krafty Girls will be bringing you another round of sneak peeks with our weekly challenge tomorrow. I'll be sitting that one out due to a crazy busy week, but I will be back on Sunday for our release day blog hop!! Hope to see you then. :)

Material Girl

Good morning and happy Saturday! It's my turn to play hostess this week for the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Challenge. I recently heard one of my favourite Madonna songs on my local radio station, and thought it would be fun to have a "Material Girl" challenge (lol, admit it...you're all singing that song now, right?!)...so dig through your crafty treasure troves and find some fabric to incorporate into your project...just how you choose to use that fabric is totally up to you. :)

I inked up Kimiko from the latest collection of Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps by Annie Rodrigue. (Just out of interest, did anybody ever watch a cartoon called Xiaolin Showdown?? There was a character called "Kimiko" on it. It was such a funny cartoon...my son and I loved it!) My card base is a 4.5"x6" rectangle. I used Spellbinders Labels 8 to cut a window in a layer of cardstock to frame a panel of fabric cut from a dollar store drawstring gift bag. The blue and red matting around the actual black frame was made with two consecutive sized dies from the Labels 8 set...after cutting the black section by running the dies through my Cuttlebug, I traced around the outer and inner edges of the dies and then handcut the blue and red cardstock. The green organza ribbon flower was handmade from the lining of the drawstring bag. (You can find a fantastic video tutorial on these flowers HERE. I used my circle Spellbinders as a template for cutting the circles before sewing them into petals.) I finished off this handmade flower with a Prima Hydrangea glammed up with some Stardust Stickles and topped it off with a Prima "Say It In Studs" embellishment. The rhinestone swirls and blue ribbon are from the dollar store.

Kimiko was stamped on Neenah cardstock in Memento Ink and coloured with Copic markers. I did a little altering on her eyes...gave her slightly larger pupils and added irises to colour a pretty blue. Oh, and I extended her lash line just a little bit. I popped her up on some foam squares for a bit of dimension.

Skin: E000, E00, E11, R20 Hair: C9, C7, C5, C3, B60 Clothing and Umbrella: YG00, G20, G82, G85, G99, B23, B21, B23, B37, B99, R22, R27, R59, C5, C7

If you play along with the "Material Girl" challenge this week, you could win Kimiko, the stamp I used on my card today. Just make sure to use a Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp on your project to be eligible. Need a little inspiration?? Hop on over to the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Blog to see the gorgeous projects made by my fellow Krafty Girls...those gals never cease to amaze me with their talent and creativity. :)

In need of some new stamps?? Make sure to visit the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Online Store! Oh, and did you see Kimmie's announcement yesterday about Frugal Fridays?? Take a look:

"Sweet Meets Sassy Collection #2" Release Day at SCACD!!

Good morning and welcome to release day at SCACD!! First of all, I must apologize as yesterday I had posted that we were having a blog hop today...I completely forgot that we're changing things up a bit for this release, and trying something a little different! Today, the final three images in the Sweet Meets Sassy Collection #2 are being revealed over on the store blog Follow Your Heart by:

  • Suzanne

  • Colleen

  • Anki

  • The exclusive Sweet Meets Sassy Collection #2 was illustrated by artist Victoria Case for SCACD. It actually includes two separate sets, "The Retro Crew" and "Heart and Hugs The Fun Collection". (when purchased as complete sets, you will receive a bonus sentiment stamp!)

A few other member of the design team decided to make an extra card to celebrate today's release...including me. My card today features the adorable new stamp named "LOL"...she's part of the "Hearts and Hugs" set. This is such a cute image, and so perfect for today's generation of youth...well, actually it's not just the youth who are permanently attached to their electronic devices!! You can't get through a day without seeing someone texting or emailing...remember the days when we didn't all need to be accessible 24/7?? Makes me feel old, lol. But we all adapt right? Quite honestly, I rely on texting and emailing more often than actual telephone calls anymore, as it is usually more convenient...and yes, I'm completely guilty of adopting the short forms used in this method of communication as well. :) See...I even do the sideways smiley face!! The patterned papers are Basic Grey (Olivia)...the red panel is a scrap of MME paper. The flourishes were cut with Spellbinders Doodle Parts. The pearls were created with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen in Ice White. I did up the sentiment on my computer and chose a font that looked like typewriter print. It was matted on a Spellbinders Ribbon Tag Trio.

"LOL" was stamped on Neenah cardstock in Memento Ink and coloured with Copic markers. I added some Stardust Stickles to her slippers...just because all girls need a little "glam". :) The image was cut out with some oval Spellbinders. I sponged around the image and sentiment with Victorian Velvet Distress Ink.

    Copics: Skin: E000, E00, E11, R20 Hair: E50, E31, E33, E37, E59 Shirt: R22, R27, R46, R59, B91, B93, B95, B97 Pants: B91, B93, B95, B97, C5, C7 Slippers: BG10, BG11, BG15, BG09, C5, C7, blender Stool: G20, G82, G85, G99, C5, C7, R22, R27, BG10, BG11, BG09 Laptop: C5, C3, C1, C00

If you have not yet visited the store blog Follow Your Heart, please make sure to pop over there to see those gorgeous projects by Suzanne, Colleen and Anki! While you're there, make sure to check to see if you were one of the lucky blog candy winners from this week's sneak peek giveaways.

Then it's time to do some shopping! Head on over to SCACD to purchase these gorgeous new stamps. You can also find them at Quixotic Paperie if you live over in the UK.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

    Blessings,

    Melanie

    Naturally Styled

Good morning to all my crafty friends out there!! Hope you're all having a fabulous week so far. :)

I've got a card to share with you today featuring one of the exclusive SCACD stamps from the Natural Beauty collection...this is "Naturally Styled". How gorgeous is this dressform?? I think it's such an elegant image, and I love the pretty vines entwined around the image. The papers are from an MME Stella and Rose pad (Hazel). Susana has an incredible selection of 6x6 paper pads, and her prices are amazing...you can check them out HERE.

"Naturally Styled" was stamped on Neenah cardstock with Memento Ink and coloured with Copic makers. The image was cut out with my oval Spellbinders. I sponged around the image with a combination of Antique Linen, Bundled Sage, Victorian Velvet and Walnut Stain Distress Inks while it was still in the die. I wasn't quite happy with the depth of shading on the dress, so I pulled out my Conte crayons and paper blending stump to add some more dimension. The pearls were created with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen in "Cream". The decorative "frame" around the image was created with a Martha Steward border punch. This is by no means my own idea. I've seen this technique used by many very talented papercrafters on my travels around blogland, and think it's a wonderful way to stretch the possibilities of your punches. After punching a strip of cardstock, you simply cut some "V" shaped notches in your carstock so that you can curve the cardstock to the shape of your image panel. In the close up below, you can see the small "gathers" or folds in the punched cardstock ...I used Scor Tape to attach the "frame" to the image.

  • ***CANADIAN POSTAL STRIKE*** Ok, so the latest news update this morning is that the strike has escalated to a full shut down of postal services. I encourage my fellow Canadians to check with the businesses they are ordering from for shipping options before placing your orders. Hopefully, this strike will be resolved quickly, but in the meantime we do appreciate your patience and understanding as all businesses are dealing with the complications of this postal strike. Most importantly, I want to encourage you to continue to look to SCACD for all your crafty needs! :)

I hope you all have a fantastic week. I'll be back on Friday with a another fun post for SCACD...just wait until you see what the design team has been up to!! ;)

    Blessings

    Melanie
