"Little Susan" (Elisabeth Bell for SCACD)

Hi folks!

I've got a card to share with you today featuring one of the recently released stamps by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD. This is Little Susan. The background Tag was created by first stamping some flourishes with Archival Ink. (you can find some beautiful flourish stamps at SCACD HERE) I also stamped the word LOVE from the Self Words Set, an exclusive SCACD Mixed Media stamp set. I added some water to my Luminarte Primary Element Mica Powders in Mallard Green, Blue Flame and Pink Azalea and applied them as a wash. After the base layer was dry, I went in with another coat of the mica powders to paint in a bit of detail around the flourishes and to fill in the letters in "LOVE". I did add just a touch of Gum Arabic to the powders before adding the water as a binding agent. If you don't add the binder, you will still get a lovely wash of colour...just not with the same shimmer effect as when a binder is included. The tag was then sponged around the edges with a dark brown ink.The corner embellishments were cut with Classic Corner Dies by SCACD and the vine is a Memory Box Die. I also added a little key charm. SCACD always has such a great selection of embellishments for your projects. For example, you can find some pretty chipboard keys HERE  and HERE. The advantage to chipboard of course is that you can add any finish to them to match your project perfectly. If you prefer metal charms, check out these  Blue Moon charms. There are also some great metal keys by Vintaj. If dies are your preference, check out these Jewel Keys. There are also two different key dies from Poppy Stamp Dies HERE and HERE. Speaking of keys, did you see THIS new corner die set by SCACD??

Little Susan was stamped in Memento Ink and predominantly coloured with Copics. Her shirt was coloured with a combination of ShinHan markers and Copics.

You can find the entire recent release of stamps by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD HERE.

Make sure to grab a cup of coffee or tea and take some time to browse around SCACD for all your crafty needs. :)

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful day!

Blessings,

Melanie

"Sending Love" with SCACD

Good morning!! Have you seen the recent re-release of the gorgeous Guardian Angels at SCACD?? I adore these angels. They are so versatile and an absolute joy to colour. This is "Sending Love Angel". I decided to pull out a canvas and some paints to create a background...it's been a very long time since I've attempted to paint anything, so I am more than a bit rusty! (you can find canvases in the Mixed Media section at SCACD) To be honest, I need to invest in some better brushes I used some old inexpensive ones I've had kicking around for an eternity, lol. I used some matte medium to thin my paints out a bit to ease with the blending transitions. "Sending Love Angel" was stamped in Memento Ink and coloured with Copics. Her wings were given a coat of Stardust Stickles and she was adhered with the matte medium. I am a fan of Neenah paper for colouring with Copics, but thought I'd try out some cheap cardstock I have for using on the interior of my cards. It actually wasn't too bad for blending, but as it has a bit more "tooth" than what I prefer, I don't think I'll reach for it very often. It is however, a thinner paper than Neenah and so it has lower profile when adhered to the canvas.

Skin: E000, E00, E11, RV95, R20  Hair: E50, E31, E33, E37, E59  Jeans: B000, B91, B93, B95, B97, C7, C9  Shirt: V01, V12, V15, V9, C7, C9

Make sure to take a look around SCACD to check out all the new products Susana has been ordering in. If you are a mixed media artist, make sure to check out THIS section for some fantastic products perfect for canvases and art journals. You can keep up to date with all the happenings at SCACD at the Store Blog.

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy Mail!

Hello friends! Hope your week is off to a great start. :)

I wanted to share a tag featuring one of the brand new Peekers that was just released last week at SCACD. This is "Happy Mail Peeker". I just love the charm and innoncence of all the Peekers...they are so sweet, and a lot of fun to colour up. I pulled out an Inkssentials Manilla Tag, embossed it with a Couture Creations folder and then painted the tag with Luiminarte Mica Powders in Teal Zircon, Pink Azalea and Mallard Green mixed with some matte medium. I added a bit of a paper doily, some text paper from a She Art 6x6 pad and a snippet of crocheted trim. The little bit of vine peeking out was cut with a Memory Box Die. (pretty much everything was given the Luminarte touch!)  The sheer ribbon was tied with my Bow Easy. That gorgeous beaded pin is from Prima...love these pins! The flower in the upper corner is from Petaloo.

Happy Mail Peeker was stamped on Neenah cardstock and coloured with my Copics. The image was cut out and and adhered with more of the matte medium.

There Peekers are available exclusively at SCACD and at Quixotic Paperie for our international friends. Susana also re-released some gorgeous Guardian Angels. These stamps are all available for purchase as complete sets or as individual stamps. The sets are available at a great discount for all of you who "need" them all. ;)

"The Peekers" Blog Hop with SCACD!

Hi friends! By now I'm sure you've heard the news that a brand new crop of "Peekers" by Elizabeth Bell for SCACD was released a couple of days ago! Susana is also re-introducing some of the gorgeous Guardian Angels. Available for purchase now are the:

We wanted to celebrate the release of these fabulous stamps with a fun blog hop full of inspiration from the entire SCACD design team as well as a few special guests. To make sure you don't miss any stops on the hop, just start over at the SCACD Store Blog where you will find the complete list of links. If you've been following along, you will have arrived here after visiting with the lovely Dianne

I have two cards to share with you today. The first features the sweet "Puppy Peeker" from the Sweet Home Peekers. The papers are all from the fantastic 6x6 pad from Simple Stories "Fabulous". I absolutely love this paper pad. It has several papers with different tags and labels, some of which include sentiments like the "BFF" label on my card. Others are perfect for journaling your own message. (it would also be great for use in scrapbooks or Smashbooks) The corner embellishment was made with the Memory Box Madera Corner Die. To finish it off, I distressed the paper edges, sponged with them with brown ink and added pearls made with a Viva Decor Pearl Pen

She was stamped on Neenah cardstock with Memento Ink and coloured with Copics. The box was paper pieced with kraft carstock.

My second card features "Meadow Peeker" who is also part of the Sweet Home Peekers. The papers on this card are from Kaisercraft Blae and Ivy...oh, and this paper pad just happens to be on sale right now for 20% off!!  It also includes some die cut borders and tags, one of which I used on this card. I used the Memory Box Delicate Vine Die to create the vine. Once again, I reached for my Viva Decor Pearl Pen to create the pearls.

The scene was mostly coloured with Copics, but I used some ShinHan Touch Twin markers to colour her red dress. The sky was sponged in with blue ink and a hand cut cloud template.

All the new stamps are available for purchase as individual stamps or as complete collections which are available at a discounted price. You will only find them at SCACD and at Quixotic Paperie for our international friends living across the pond. :)

It is now my pleasure to send you off to visit with the lovely Crystal. :)

Happy hopping!!

Blessings,

Melanie

Stocking Stuffer Release at SCACD!!

Good morning crafty friends!! 'Tis the season to spread some holiday cheer at SCACD with a Stocking Stuffer release!

This final release of 2011 features a sampler by Elisabeth Bell for SCACD!!! Now despite the "Stocking Stuffer" name, these aren’t holiday stamp, but they would make a fantastic gift for all the crafty people on your list!! So Susana has named this release the Odds and Ends Sampler. (For you Peeker fans, more are coming next year!!!) There are two collections in this release: the first Collection is the Odds Sampler and the second is the Ends Sampler. Each collection consists of four stamps. You will be able to buy either Set of 4 or both sets together and get a sweet discount!!!

To celebrate the release, and to get your creative juices flowing, we're having a fun blog hop today featuring the new Odds and Ends Sampler. If you've been following along, you should have arrived here after visiting with the lovely Alex. Wasn't her project gorgeous?!

My card today features "Fancy" from the "Ends Sampler" set...isn't she cute? I paired her up with some papers from My Mind's Eye. The flourish was created with the Memory Box Elegant Scrollwork Die. The little roses are from Prima and were treated to a little ink and Stardust Stickles. While Susana doesn't have these exact roses in stock, she currently has a fantastic deal on some Flower Grab Bags...these bags contain a total of 37 flowers for only $9.99 (USD)! The flowers are an assortment by Prima and Kaisercraft...what a steal!! I also tucked in a few pearl sprays. The frame around the image was created with a border punch. Just punch a strip of cardstock, cut out some notches and adhere the border to your image panel with a strong double sided tape. (I used Scor-Tape) The notches should allow you to manipulate the cardstock around gentle curves like this oval.

"Fancy" was stamped on Neenah cardstock with Memento Ink and coloured with Copics.

Skin: E000, E00, E11, R20, BV31, BV23  Hair: E50, E31, E33, E37, E59, W9  Pants: B32, B34, B37, B39, C7, R85 (which was too bright, so I toned it down with some BV31 and C3)  Shirt: YG00, YG91, YG95, G99, BV23, BV29, W7 Shoes: E50, E25, E59, W9

The Odds and Ends Samplers are available for purchase exclusively at SCACD.

If you haven't started your Christmas shopping yet, it's definitely time to start! SCACD is the perfect place to do some shopping for all those crafty friends on your lists...or your could always leave a little wish list of SCACD goodies for your hubby to make shopping easy for him this year. ;) In addition to all the gorgeous SCACD exclusive stamps, Susana also carries several other stamp companies, an amazing selection of 6x6 paper pads by many of your favourite companies, stamping essentials like acrylic blocks and ink pads, embellishments, Viva Decor products, embossing folders, jewelry findings, paints, canvases, Copics, Spellbinders, Memory Box dies, chipboard...shall I go on? lol
