Welcome to Day 2 of the September 2020 Release Sneak Peeks at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps !

Introducing our newest set from Sabrina...

What would a holiday release be without the man in red himself?!  This adorable new set features Santa delivering  Christmas joy by train!  The set includes Santa in the engine, two different sized train cars, and a train track in addition to a bunch of fabulous people and items you can interchange to go in the cars. I stamped the images from Santa's Ride in Wicked Black ink on Neenah paper and coloured with Copics. In the smaller car, I layered the reindeer and candy stamps. I used some fun design paper from Bella Blvd and used one of the patterns to paper-piece part of the train cars. I also used some of our fabulous new Christmas Dots. I also added some stickles to the light bulbs on the smaller car.

Anything Water...a Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge

Good Morning and welcome to another
fabulous and fun Saturday Challenge

This week's challenge for you is: ANYTHING WATER

I created a bookmark with the new BE A MERMAID stamp set. She was stamped in Totally Taupe ink on Neenah 110# paper and coloured with Copics. I fussy cut her and placed her on some mermaid/underwater themed design paper. The edges were inked in Whimsical Wisteria ink. The sentiment from the Unicorns and Rainbows set was heat embossed in black. And what mermaid project is complete without some glitter?? I edged the bookmark in Thistle Stickles and coated her tail in Stardust Stickles. In place of a tassel, I added some fun ribbon, bakers twine and a wooden dollar store anchor painted with acrylics and coated in more Stardust Stickles.

Each and every Saturday we post a brand new challenge for the week and you are welcome to enter as many times as you like.
These must be new creations and you are welcome to use any stamp, however using Kraftin' Kimmie stamps and products will earn you double entries to the monthly prize of a 25$ voucher to the Krafty shop!

There are two ways to enter... you can link up your creation on the Kraftin’ Kimmie blog page AND you can upload your photo to the album in our Krafty Friends FB group.

Also if you need a little extra inspiration or a jumpstart to your mojo, we have a new sketch each month! Feel free to use it any time!

You are Magical...a Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge

Welcome to another fabulous Krafty Challenge! We've got a super easy theme for you this week...
GLITTER!!!

Submit your glittery design for your chance to WIN! You have until Friday, April 6th to enter this challenge. Keep in mind, all entries are welcome but you must use a Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp in order to win.

Each Saturday we post a new challenge and you can enter as many times as you like. And each submission during the month will enter you into the monthly prize of a $40 gift voucher to spend in the krafty shop!

I made a glittery bookmark featuring the adorable Unicorns and Rainbows stamp set. I stamped one of the unicorns on hammermill paper and coloured her with copics. The background is a blend of oxide inks spritzed with a little water. I die cut a couple of clouds, added a sentiment from the set and used a combination of stardust stickles and wink of stella to add the glittery touches. At our recent krop at Kimmie's house, the amazing Alexis showed us how to make these fantastic tassels for tags and bookmarks. Following Alexis's example, I added a little charm to my tassel.

We've also got a fun sketch for your inspiration for March. You don't have to use it but if you need a little extra kickstart in your mojo, feel free to use it any time.

12 Days of Krafty Christmas...Our Favourite 2016 Stamps!

Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps has been celebrating December with the 12 Days of Krafty Christmas. From December 1st-11th we have looked back at the 2016 monthly releases. Each month was spotlighted on its corresponding day. For December 12th, we thought it would be fun for each Krafty Krew member to create a new project featuring their favourite set from the year.

This was a tough decision! 2016 saw the addition of so many fabulous new KKS clear stamp sets! I decided to showcase Teacup Fairy by Annie Rodrigue who was released back in March. I adore Annie's characters and I also adore tea...perfect combination for me! I decided to put a Christmas spin on this fairy. The image was coloured with Copics. I chose some pretty glitter papers for paper-piecing the cup and saucer. Shading was added to these papers with Copics. I feel this is such an important step in paper-piecing...without that shading, the pieced elements would appear completely flat. If you've spent the time creating depth and dimension while colouring the rest of the image, make sure to add that finishing touch to your paper-piecing! I also go around all exposed paper edges with a coordinating marker. This hides the white paper core...it also helps any paper-piecing to blend in seamlessly with the rest of the image. The rest of the vintage (another favourite of mine) paper is from Michael's. I opted out of including the fairy's antennae...if I wanted to include them, I simply would have stamped my image on the patterned paper and matched up the image when adhering.

Make sure to stop by the KKS blog today to see which stamps the rest of the Krafty Krew chose as their favourites of 2016!

Thanks for stopping by.

Blessings,

Melanie

A Princess and her Horse

Good morning to you all! I hope you've all been having a fantastic week. :)

I've got another card to share with you featuring one of the newest exclusive stamps at Susana's Custom Art and Card Design. This is "Princess" by Syliva Zet for SCACD. Sylvia has designed a fantastic collection of stamps perfect for so many different occasions. The papers I used on my card are from the My Mind's Eye "Blink of an Eye" 6x6 pad. The image was matted on layers cut with my Circle and Lacey Circle Spellbinders. A Viva Decor pen was used to make the little pearls around the image. Have you ever gotten your hands a new crafty toy and gone a little overboard with it?? lol  Well, that's kind of what happened here. (blushing, hehe) I was so excited when my most recent order from SCACD arrived on my doorstep, and one of the products I couldn't wait to get my paws on was the Elegant Scrollwork die from Memory Box. This die cuts out the most beautifully delicate scrolls, and I love anything dainty and elegant. :)  So I pulled out my Cuttlebug and got cutting...and cutting...and cutting, lol. Then I used my Cutterbee scissors to cut apart the scrolls so I could tuck in little portions around the Spellbinders Lacey Circle layer....and that's where I got carried away. hehe (I even removed a couple of pieces!) I can say that I LOVE this die, and I plan to add more of the Memory Box dies to my die-cutting arsenal...Susana has a wonderful selection of the Memory Box dies HERE. Just a word of warning though, these recently FLEW off the shelves! Susana has restocked them but if you see one (or several!) that you "need", my advice is to grab them and throw them in your cart quickly!! (there's a snowflake that I have my eyes on right now!!)

"Princess" was stamped on Neenah cardstock with Memento Tuxedo Black Ink and coloured with Copic markers. How many of you were horse-crazy as children? I was. :)  I loved horses. I collected figurines, I read books about horses (Marguerite Henry and Walter Farley were two favourite authors from my younger years), I bought magazines, hung posters, followed show jumping on tv and my sketchbooks were FULL of horse drawings. This continued through high school...I'm sure my art teacher was sick of all my equine themed projects! I eventually started taking riding lessons and even worked at a barn as a teenager. Unfortunately, my horrible allergies make it hard for me to be around horses...and to be honest, I really don't have the time right now to make them a part of my life. But this stamps is kind of nostalgic for me as one of my favourite "toys" as a very young girl was my rocking horse...well, it was the kind suspended on springs, so I guess it wasn't really a rocking horse. It was my companion on so many adventures that only children can dream up. :)  I even used to pull out buckets of water and sponges to bathe my faithful steed...much to my mother's annoyance, lol. So this stamp brought back some wonderful memories for me.  After colouring with my markers, I added some additional shading with Conte Crayons and a paper blending stump.

Skin: E000, E00, E11, R20  Hair: E50, Y23, E31, E33, E37  Dress: BG70, BG72, BG75, C5  Cape: YR02, YR04, YR07, R05, R46, R59, C5   Horse: W00, W1, W3, W5, W7, W9  Saddle: Y23, E53, E57  Reins:  Rockers:

You can find the entire collection of Slyvia Zet for SCACD stamps at SCACD and at Quixotic Paperie if you reside in the UK.

Make sure to check in at SCACD frequently for all your crafty needs. Susana is always adding fantastic new products to the store.
I hope you have a wonderful day and thanks so much for your visit. :)

PS: This is for one of my readers, Victoria. :)  On my recent post "Veritas", you had asked how I cut out all the small details on my stamped images. First of all, patience is important! lol  Well, that and a very sharp pair of detail scissors...I would be lost without my Cutterbee scissors. I also keep a sharp craft knife on hand. These two tools are sufficient for cutting out most stamped images. However, the new Syliva Zet for SCACD stamps include a lot of beautiful little curly-cues and tendrils that are next to impossible to cut out. (and yes, I did actually try! lol) My solution: I cheated. lol  I stamped the image on my design paper before adhering the the cut out coloured image. That way, I didn't have to worry about fussing with those teeny tiny little details...I just snipped them off. Then, all I had to do was adhere the finished image right over top and voila...all those fabulous little tendrils and details can still be included on your final project. :) (and yes, I did the same thing for today's card!)

Blessings,

Melanie

Let's get this party started!! Well, actually the hop officially begins over at the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Blog, so please make sure to start there...that way, you won't miss any of the blogs along the way. You should have arrived here after visiting with the lovely Diana...didn't she have a gorgeous project to show you??

I decided to make a card that celebrates friendship. Friends are such a blessing...they see us through victories and struggles. They encourage us, support us and help keep us balanced. Friendship truly is a gift that should be treasured. I chose to use "Bird Fairy" on my card. I adore this stamp, and I love how she is cradling this little bird in her hands.

I stamped Bird Fairy on Neenah with Memento Ink and coloured her with Copic markers. Her wings were coated with Stardust Stickles. I attempted to create a background with my Inkssentials Blending Tool and Distress Inks. I used Milled Lavender, Victorian Velvet and Stormy Sky...and a touch of Black Soot to deepen the shadow underneath her. I got a little heavy handed in a few spots...I will need to practise this technique a bit more. The metal corner embellishments are from the dollar store and the sentiment was done on my computer. Oh, and that pretty piece of green paper was from my daughter and Junior Krafty Girl Ainsleigh...she pulled it out of her own stash of papers and offered it to me since it went so nicely with the blue KaiserCraft paper. Thanks hun...great eye for picking out the perfect accent paper!

Copics: Skin: E0000, E000, E00, R20 Wings: V01, RV000, B91, G20, G28 (and the blender) Hair: E31, E33, E37, E50, E59 Dress: B91, B93, B95, B97, B99, C5, R59, R83, R85, V01, V12, V15 Bird: B32, B23, B97, B99

Break out the Glitter at Wags 'n Whiskers!

Happy Friday stampers!! What a scorcher of a week we've had here in Southwestern Ontario. I am so done with hot humid weather. Bring on fall!!! lol This is also the last weekend of summer break for the kids...it's back to school next week! Our son Nathan is going into Grade 12 and our daughter Ainsleigh will be starting Grade 5...I cannot believe how fast they are growing up.

Well, we're back to having weekly challenges at Wags 'n Whiskers Stamps after a bit of a summer break. This week, our "Glitter" challenge is brought to us by the lovely Tracey. So break out your pretty glitters, Stickles, sparkle pens and glittery papers and lets get crafty!

The recently released Wags 'n Whiskers Fairies are just perfect for this Glitter challenge...after all, every fairy needs some sparkle you know. I pulled out cute little Hannah and stamped her out on Neenah cardstock with Memento Ink. After colouring her with my Copic markers, I added an abundance of my absolute favourite glittery accessory...Stardust Stickles! (although, it's not quite showing up as much in this picture) Hannah's outfit was paper-pieced, but I added additional shading with my markers to create some dimension. I decided to make a tag this week which is something I seldom do. I'm thinking I will have to start doing this more often, as it's a great way to use up some of your little scraps of paper. The little flowers from K&Company were also "Stickled". The sentiment is from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps. The pretty pink ribbon is May Arts silk ribbon (LOVE this stuff!) and it is available at Lacey's store Stamp and Create.

Copics: Skin: E0000, E000, E00, E11, R20 Hair: E11, E13, E17, E18, E19, E37, E59, Y23 (so many markers!lol) Wings: RV000, BG000, BG11

I recently received an email from a reader (Hi Patricia!!) asking me what colours I use for colouring red hair. To be honest, I rarely colour my images as redheads. I have attempted it a couple of times, but have never been happy with the result. So, I asked Patricia for a bit of time to play with some combination before answering her question. I am fairly happy with Hannah's hair, although it's still more auburn than red...I need to practice more. I also broke one of my big rules...I put cute little redheaded Hannah in pink...GASP! My family and friends know that I have issues with redheads wearing pink...I still pester my mom about dressing me in pink as a little girl, lol. Don't get me wrong, I love pink! Just not on redheaded me. lol

We'd love to have you join in our challenge this week! Just make sure to use a Wags 'n Whiskers Stamp (you can find them HERE) on your project and you could be the lucky winner of a brand new WnW stamp! Hop on over the the Wags 'n Whiskers Blog to see the gorgeous glittery creations by the rest of the design team!

Oh, if you have not entered my BLOG CANDY yet, you have until 11:59 EST tonight! I will be announcing the winner on my Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps post tomorrow...check out THIS post to enter!

Thanks so much for stopping by today friends, and I hope to see you back tomorrow!

Melanie

Shades of Summer

Happy Saturday!! Last week, I enjoyed a little "escape" with my friend and current guest Krafty Girl Krista! Our day kicked off with a cup of tea at Starbucks before hitting a couple of great crafty stores. I behaved myself, and just bought some paper, some foam pads for my Tim Holtz blending tool and some more StarDust Stickles!! Lol, this was honestly the highlight of my shopping time, as I was unable to find it in any of my local stores. After lunch, we headed over to Kimmie's place where Andrea also joined us. You should have seen the set up of Copic markers...it was amazing!! (my little collection paled in comparison to both Kimmie and Andrea's) Now, my plan was to be super productive and get a whole bunch of colouring done...yeah, not so much. We just had too much to talk about! Kimmie did show us how to cut easy-mounted stamps out with a hot knife...seriously, I now need a hot knife. It's SOOO much easier than struggling with gooey scissors. Thanks ladies for such a fun day!

Soooo, are you ready for another challenge at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps? Our hostess today is the amazing Jeanne Streiff! She has put together a great challenge for us inspired by the colours of summer...BLUE, TAN and YELLOW.

For my card today, I inked up another mermaid from Kimmie's Summer Mermaid Stamp Kit...hope you already ordered yours, because there are not very many left! This kit has been a huge success...apparently you all LOVE your mermaids!

This lovely gal is "Cordelia". I paired her up with some gorgeous papers from October Afternoon (I grabbed several papers from both Fly A Kite and Thrift Shop and played around until I had a combo I liked.) Now, I stretched the challenge a little...my blues are leaning more towards teal, but that's still in the blue family, right?? (Hope Jeanne agrees! lol) I decided to go with a Kraft cardstock base to make sure to get some "tan" in there! I stitched around all the layers of paper, and covered a little tag in the OA paper for the sentiment, which is also part of the Summer Stamp Kit.

Cordelia seems like quite the little diva! She certainly knows how to accessorize...look at all the hair adornments. This image is great for breaking out the Stickles, rhinestones and pearls...the girl loves her bling! I loaded her up with lots of Smooch Illuminate, StarDust Stickles and Rainfall Stickles (just on the green shells in her hair).

Hope you join us this week in the challenge...you could win Tubing Miles, the stamp Jeanne used on her gorgeous card! Just make sure to use a Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp so that you are eligible for the prize (go shopping HERE!!).

You can link up your creation at the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Blog where you will also be able to see what the rest of the Krafty Girls have made this week...they are stunning!!

How would you like to DOUBLE your chances of winning?? Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps is the sponsor at Cute Card Thursday this week, and it's a sketch challenge! I used their sketch on my Cordelia card today...it's a great layout! So, make sure to enter BOTH challenges this week, and increase your odds of winning!

Blessings,

Melanie

Anyone for Lemonade?

Good morning! Time for another Wags 'n Whiskers Challenge! This week, our fantabulous hostess is the one and only Sharon Caudle, who has called her challenge "Lemonade Stand". She's asking to see the colour YELLOW on your creation...so bright and cheery for this time of year!

This week, I've inked up "Magical Friends" from the May release. I pulled out this pretty paper from K&Company Wild Raspberry...I love the soft, buttery yellows in this paper. The gorgeous silk ribbon is May Arts, available at Lacey's store Stamp and Create. The bow was made with a tool I would be lost without...the Bow Easy. Love that little gadget! The sentiment is a clear stamp I've had kicking around for a while, but since I got rid of the packaging I'm not really sure of the company. (I found it in a dollar bin at Michael's one time, if that helps!!)

After colouring the image with my Copic markers, I added Star Dust Stickles to the wings, horn and tag. (I was able to find more on my trip to London last weekend!) I also gave the little unicorn a good coat of Smooch Illuminate.

We'd love to have you play along with us this week. You could be the winner of a Wags 'n Whiskers stamp...just make sure to use a W&W image (just click that link to find out where to buy them!) on your creation to be eligible. You can link up your project on the W&W blog here. You'll also find some beautiful projects by the rest of the Divas to get your mojo going!

Don't forget that we have our June release next week! Wags 'n Whiskers is introducing a brand new artist...trust me stampers, these new images are adorable! These new June images will only be available for purchase as digis!! Previews will begin next Wednesday followed by a BLOG HOP on Friday June 25th, the official release day! So mark your calendars now! Oh, and check out this post to see how you could win a great prize!!

You can also purchase the new Summer Mermaid Stamp Kit which includes six lovely mermaids created by Annie Rodrigue, a whole bunch of accessory stamps and a fantastic sentiment set. If you order these gorgeous mermaids now while they are available as a set, you will receive a 20% discount! This Summer Kit is exclusively available at Kimmie's Online Store.

So, what better way to celebrate such a fantastic release than with a BLOG HOP! Kimmie, of course, will be randomly selecting a few lucky participants who will win some of the new stamps...so make sure to leave comments at all blogs along the hop!! Go grab yourself a cup of your favourite brew and get comfy, because we have a ton of fun for you today!

Oh my goodness, what a lineup of talent Kimmie has in store for you on this hop! We have several guests joining us today, including both of the artists responsible for the images this month, Steven Leary and Annie Rodrigue!! Also, joining us today are some of the amazing Junior Krafty Girls, so be sure to leave them some love too! The hop starts at the Challenge Blog, so if you did not arrive here after visiting my friend and very talented stamper Lacey, then you should start back at the beginning so you don't miss anything! Here's the list for the hop:

11. Annie
13. Lacey
14. Melanie (you are here!!)
15. Vicki

Ok, how would you like to see another mermaid from our Summer Stamp Kit?? My easel card today features "Ariana". How adorable is she...and I just love her little seahorse friends! I wanted to create a bit of a scene with some of the accessory stamps included in the Summer Mermaid Stamp Kit. So, I decided to create a small recessed window on this easel card. I stamped and coloured up the little fish and seaweed and adhered them in the window. I used Glossy Accents to stick on some small beads to create the ocean floor. Ariana was attached in front of the window to add to the dimension of the card, as were her little seahorse friends. The sentiment from the Summer Stamp Kit was adhered to the inside/base of the easel card.

Here's a side shot of the card. I had to do a little "engineering" to accommodate the recessed window. Obviously, this card cannot fold flat, so I incorporated a 3/4" spine into the card. (The depth of the window is only 1/2", but the bottom layer also has a bit of dimension so as to prop the card up when open. Hmm...hoping this make sense!! lol)

Originally, my lovely daughter and Junior Krafty Girl Ainsleigh was going to have a card for today's hop as well. However, due to a busy week full of school projects and other commitments, she didn't quite get it finished. She is planning to have one for next week's challenge instead.

Ok, time for you to head off and see what the incredibly talented Vicki has to show you! My goodness, this girl has talent!

Remember to leave comments at every blog on the hop so you have the chance to win some of the new release stamps! After the hop, get yourself over to the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Online Store to place your order. (Remember, this is the ONLY place you will be able to purchase the Summer Mermaid Stamp Kit...at an incredible price too!) Guess what?? Each and every order placed this week, will receive a little goodie bag of random bonus accessory stamps in your package!

Have fun hopping!

Blessings,
Melanie
