Winter Guardian

Hi friends!

I spent some time the other night colouring up one of the GORGEOUS digital stamps from SCACD...you did hear about the Carmen Medlin for SCACD Digital images right?! Susana has introduced some amazing new images  and also re-released some former images that were previously only available in rubber! Digital images are so versatile. You can resize and flip the images to suit your needs, not to mention the benefits of shopping from home in your jammies and being able to download to start colouring right away!

This is Winter Guardian...she just happens to be one of my favourites. :)  I LOVE this style of Carmen's. She's so elegant. With colder weather and the holidays soon approaching, she'd be perfect for your seasonal projects. I haven't had time to put her on a card yet, but I will be doing that soon. I added some Stardust Stickles to her wings and the snow in the globe. I think I'll likely add some glossy accents to the glass globe before placing her on my final project.

Copics:   Skin: E000, E00, E11, RV95  Hair: E50, E31, E33, E37, E59, BV29  Dress: B91, B93, B95, B97, BV29, N5, E42, E43, E47  Wings: BG70, B91, B93, E42, E40

SCACD Digital!

Today SCACD is formally premiering the SCACD Digital site by adding over 35 images designed by Carmen Medlin!!! Carmen's range is fun, fresh as well as elegant and will have something for everyone. Susana has added quite a few never before seen Fab images as well as taken some classic past rubber stamps and turned them into digi for this release.

Reminder to Our International Friend: As you know, SCACD has stopped the sale of physical items. However, International customers can now purchase SCACD Digital images only!

Joining us today to celebrate this release with the SCACD DT as well as bunch of amazing Guests. If you loose your way check out the Store Blog for the entire list. So if you've been following along, you should have arrived here after visiting with the lovely Crystal.

I've created two cards for today's hop. First up is one of my favourites, Baby Unicorn. I used to collect unicorns when I was younger. For every birthday and Christmas, my mom would always get me a new figurine or some other type of art piece. So I was really excited to have a chance to colour this image!! Digital stamps are super easy to work with. I often just use a word processing program to print them off, but thought I'd try my hand at using photoshop this time. Still pretty easy! Digital images are fantastic because you can resize and/or flip them according to your specific project needs. After printing the image out, it was coloured with my Copics and gave the wings a bit of shimmer with Stardust Stickles.. I used some older paper for this card, but you can check out the selection of paper pads at SCACD HERE. For the upper right corner embellishment, I used the Contempo Compass Statement Corner from Dies by SCACD. I cut it out of kraft cardstock, coloured it with Copics and then added a bit of Stardust Stickles to the star.

For my next card, I used Starry Eyed Owl...owls sure are popular right now! This little guy is super cute. :)  Again, the image was printed out and coloured with Copics. I pulled two more Dies by SCACD for this card, Classic Corners and Uncaged Bird. (I did snip the bird off)

You can find the entire selection of SCACD Digital stamps HERE...and remember, the digital stamps are available for purchase for international customers!! (it's just the physical items which cannot be shipped outside the USA)

Ok, it's now my pleasure to send you off to visit with Susan Dube...I know she will have some fantastic work to share with you. :)

Thanks for joining us!

NOTE: Elisabeth Bell and Victoria Case stamps will NOT be offered as digital images by SCACD.

I'm the first stop on the blog hop today. I've created two cards to share. First up is one of the awesome new MechAnimals, Fancy Free. Love all the fun steampunk details on this lady bug and blimp. :)  She was stamped on Neenah and coloured with Copics. I also pulled out my Dies By SCACD and cut out two Alice's Clock Statement Corners to create the die cut detail at the bottom and one Classic Corner in the top left. I think this paper pad is no longer in stock, but you can check out SCACD's great paper selection HERE

Up next is one of the fun Curiosities, Shroom to Grow. How cute is this little guy? I love the funky mushroom he's sitting under. :)   He was also stamped on Neenah and coloured with Copics. I used an assortment of Spellbinders on this card and those fantastic Ornate Hinges on the left edge are yet another of the  Dies by SCACD

Having Fun with Dies by SCACD

Hi crafty friends!

I wanted to share a card today featuring several of the Dies by SCACD. Dies are my favourite crafting tool. I love that they are an investment that can be used time and time again. I also love the endless possibilities they provide...they are so versatile!

This card is centered around the Blank Canvas Torso and Charm. I cut it out of brown cardstock and gathered some crocheted trim to create a skirt. The dress form "stand" was cut out with the Ornate Door Plate with Knob. In the upper right corner, I used one of two dies from the Fancy Flower and Key Corners. The lower right corner was created with two separate dies. The lower layer is the Contempo Compass Statement Corner...part of the design is concealed under the design paper. I then cut out a Classic Corner (there are two dies in this set) and adhered it over top of the design paper so that it looks like a single corner treatment. The papers are from Prima and I added some pearls for a finishing touch.

If you are a fan of using dies on your projects, make sure to check out the complete line of Dies by SCACD...the designs are gorgeous!

Thanks for stopping by!

Break Free

Hi friends!

I'm sharing a card today with a bit of a different vibe...it's always fun to mix things up! It features one of the Mixed Media Bland Canvas Collection 2 stamps. This steampunk style heart is part of the Follow Your True Heart set. The image was coloured with Copic markers. In keeping with the steampunk style, I pulled out the Steampunk Wings from Dies by SCACD (yes, you get both wings in the set!) and cut them out of black cardstock. They were randomly sponged with silver paint and adhered to the back of the heart. I then cut out Uncaged Bird, another of the Dies by SCACD, trimmed off the bird and vines and painted the cage silver. It was then antiqued with black ink and I tore a couple of the bars so that it would look as though the heart was breaking free of the confines of the cage. The design was adhered to create a three dimensional effect with the help of foam dimensional squares. I also used Classic Corner Dies to finish it off. The papers were all distressed, sponged with black ink and edged in silver paint.

Make sure to stop by SCACD for all your crafty needs! Susana is always adding new products to the store site, and service is always fast and friendly. :)

Key to My Heart

Hi crafty friends!!

I'm sharing a card today featuring one of the new Fairy Dust collection stamps from SCACD. This gorgeous steampunk fairy is Key to My Heart...I LOVE her! The papers are Carta Bella "Well Travelled". I pulled out some of my favourite Dies by SCACD for embellishment. Peeking out from underneath the image is one of my favourites, Alice's Clock Statement Corner. I used three Ornate Hinges, two on the left side of the card and one on the right end of the image panel. The little black pearls on the hinges were made with a Viva Decor pen.

Here's a close-up of Key to My Heart:

Fairy Dust...Release Day at SCACD!!

Hi crafty friends! Welcome to the release day blog hop with SCACD. Just wait until you see the gorgeous new stamps Susana has in store for you this month. Here's a message from Susana about the new stamps:

Today SCACD is introducing the Fairy Dust Collection!!! These are 6 sweet and sassy Fairies that just make you smile and brighten the day :D  Elisabeth Bell sprinkled just the right amount of cute, charm and gorgeous on to these special little fairies. These are stamps for right now but also classics to use years from now :D

If you've been following along with the hop, you should have arrived here after visiting with our lovely guest, Kim Dellow

I adore fairy stamps. I absolutely love colouring them! So I've been really excited to get busy creating with the Fairy Dust Collection. For my first card today, I'd like to introduce you to Time Flys. Ok, I'm in LOVE with this funky steampunk fairy. Seriously, isn't she fabulous?? I paired her up with some awesome papers from Carta Bella "Well Travelled". Love this paper pad. :)  I also used one of my favourites Dies by SCACD, Alice's Clock Statement Corner

Time Flys was stamped on Neenah and coloured with Copics.

Up next, is a pretty little fairy called Believe in the Unseen. The papers on the card are from Teresa Collins "Memories". I also used two of the newest Dies by SCACD, Contempo Compass Statement Corner and Steampunk Wings. I cut out four Steampunk wings to create the doily effect behind the image panel. These wings are AMAZING, and you get both wings in the die set. They are perfect for so many different applications...I have a million ideas running through my head. :)

Believe in the Unseen was stamped on Neenah and coloured with Copics. Startdust Stickles were used on her wings. I used several Distress Inks to sponge around the fairy. I also used the wonky clock stamp from the Follow Your True Heart set to create a bit of a border around the image. I decided to create a sky behind the frame in the image to make it appear as those she is peeking outside, but you could also colour this as a key hole or even an enchanted mirror...so many great possibilities!!

The new Fairy Dust Collection and all the Dies by SCACD are now available for purchase at SCACD

Our international friends can find the stamps and dies at Quixotic Paperie

It's my pleasure to send you off to visit with another lovely guest designer, Wendy Ramlakhan.

Thanks for stopping by, and I hope you enjoy the hop!

Earth Angel

Hey friends! Hope you're all having a great week. :)

I'm sharing a card today featuring the beautiful Earth Angel from SCACD. I absolutely love the Guardian Angel stamps. I stamped her on Neenah cardstock and coloured her with a combination of Copics and ShinHans. She was matted with Spellbinders. The paper is from Memory Box.

I decided to make an easel card and used one of the newest designs of Dies by SCACD, Contempo Compass Statement Corner. I love these dies. The designs are so beautiful and intricate. I cut it out of Neenah and coloured it with Copics. I trimmed off one edge and popped it up on foam squares. I added  a few pearls to finish it off.

Dance

Hi crafty friends! I'm sharing a card featuring one of the fantastic new stamps from the Blank Canvas  Collection #2 from SCACD. This is Solid Blank Canvas Leap of Faith. I love the unbridled joy of this silhouette stamps...so much fun! The music score paper is actually from a Halloween pad from Authentique. I also used the wonky clock stamp from the Follow Your True Heart set to stamp randomly around the edge of the paper to create a border. The other sheet of design paper is from Prima. The decorative corners were cut with Dies by SCACD. The smaller one is Classic Corner Dies and the larger one is Fancy Flower and Key Corners. I also used a Memory Box Die for the flourish. All paper edges were distressed and sponged with black ink.

Have you stopped by the SCACD website recently?? There are so many great new products, along with the staple items we all need for our creative processes. Here are a few to check out:

Blank Canvas Collection #2: Release day at SCACD!!

Good morning crafty friends and welcome to our release day blog hop with Susana's Custom Art and Card Design!!

We are introducing you to a fantastic new collection of stamps! Here's a word from Susana about these fantastic new images:

Following on from the fantastic Blank Canvas Collection, we are excited to present the SCACD Blank Canvas Collection #2. Building on the original release (recently featured in Craft Stamper Magazine), this new collection will take you on further creative adventures as you mix and match the stamps and use a variety of techniques. Perfect for beginners and seasoned mixed media enthusiasts alike, these stamps will grace cards and papercrafting projects as beautifully as they will altered canvases and other mixed media projects.

There is a set of beautiful female figures called The Mixed Media Blank Canvas Collection #2. These gorgeous stamps are available as the entire set or as pairs. When purchasing the stamps as a complete set, you will also receive a bonus stamp. (I've used it in one of my cards today.) Also being released today are two sets of accessory stamps: Nature's Direction Set and Follow Your True Heart Set. Oh, and for all you die enthusiasts, Susana also has four new Dies by SCACD being released today!!

Our release day blog hop is full of inspiration from the SCACD design team and our lovely guest designers. If you've been following along the hop, you should have arrived here after visiting with one of talented guests, Kim Dellow. (The full hop list can be found on the Store Blog.)

I have two cards to share with you today. The first one features Solid Blank Canvas Flights of Botanica. I am completely smitten the the fairies in this release...such a beautiful and elegant silhouette. The border was created with one of new accessory stamps from the Follow Your True Heart Set. The paper is Bo Bunny Gabrielle. The flourishes were created with a Memory Box Die. I added some ribbon and topped it off with a Prima pin. The corners embellishments were cut with Classic Corner Dies by SCACD.

To create the image panel, I began by sponging various Distress Inks onto some smooth cardstock. After applying the inks randomly over the paper, I used a Mini Mister to spritz it generously with water and then dried it. The image stamp was then inked with two different Distress Inks, Tumbled Glass and Stormy Sky. Before stamping the image, I lightly misted the stamp with water to blend and soften the inks. As mentioned before, the border was created with one of the stamps from the Follow Your True Heart Set by randomly stamping portions of the image in different colours of ink. The paper was again spritzed with water to soften the effect. Portions of the fairy image were painted over with a bit of matte medium and sprinkled with Glamour Dust, my absolute favourite glitter. :)

Up next is the gorgeous Solid Blank Woman of Essence. I used the same inking techniques as the previous card, but this time switched up the colour scheme. I cut the cage with Uncaged Bird Die by SCACD. The words nestled within the cage are all part of the fantastic accessory stamp you will receive as a free bonus when buying the Mixed Media Blank Canvas Collection #2. This is great little stamp with several words in different fonts. You can use the stamp as the cluster of words or cut up as I did here. Once again, I used the Classic Corner Dies by SCACD for the corner embellishments. The paper is from Authentique.

When you are done hopping, make sure to pop on over to SCACD for a little crafty shopping! You can find the entire release of stamps HERE. Don't forget to check out the brand new Dies by SCACD as well!! Our international friends will be able to purchase the dies and stamps at Quixotic Paperie.

It is now my pleasure to send you off to visit with one of our lovely guest designers, Rita!

Thanks for joining us today!!

Blank Canvas and Curiosities Fun

Good morning crafty friends! :)

I've got a couple of projects to share with you today featuring exclusive stamps and dies available at SCACD.

This pretty silhouette stamp is No Boundaries Woman from the Mixed Media  Blank Canvas collection. The image was stamped on watercolour paper in Archival Ink. The background was created with washes of Luminarte Mica Powders in Blue Flame and Teal Zircon. I also brushed some of the colour wash over the design papers to tie them in. The corners were created with Classic Corner Dies by SCACD and the flourish is a Memory Box Die. The paper is from Authentique, and the butterflies were cut out from some of the design papers in the paper pad. You can check out the entire selection of 6x6 pads at SCACD HERE.

Next up is one of the recently released Curiosities. This is Clueless who comes with the fun coordinating sentiment. I used a manilla tag and created a background using inks. Susana carries a fantastic variety of sprays and inks that could also be used to create backgrounds, so make sure to check out Art Anthology, LuminarteDylusions sprays and Distress Stains.  The tag was then run through my cuttlebug with a Couture Creations embossing folder. This sentiment comes with another Curiosity, The Thinker, and was stamped in Versafine Ink. The image was stamped in Memento Ink and coloured with a combination of Copics and Shinhans. I also added a couple of corner elements cut with the Classic Corner Dies by SCACD.

Thanks for stopping by!

Release Day at SCACD...Oddly Sweet Curiosities!

Today SCACD releases the sequel to the oh so popular Oddly Sweet Curiosities!!!

This is a fun and fresh stamp Collection from Susana Loves Stamps!!!We proudly introduce the Oddly Sweet Curiosities Sets 3 and 4 which house some of the cutest little Curiosities with matching sentiments. SCACD has continued with the appeal these little Curios have that are a combination of inspiration as well as happiness thru laughter...the best medicine!!! Each Curiosity comes with its own matching sentiment. So pick up one or the whole set so you can mix and match the sentiments.

To celebrate this release, we're having  fun blog hop showcasing the new stamps. You can find the complete hop list at the Store Blog. If you've been hopping along in order, you should have arrived here after visiting with my talented friend Alex. :)

I've created two cards for today hop. Up first is "Moments" from the Oddly Sweet Curiosities Set 4. Daydreaming and taking time to enjoy life's simple pleasures are often things we forget about as we grow up and get busy in the hectic pace of life. We should follow this little guy's lead, and remember to pause for a bit of quiet time amidst the hustle and bustle. :)  I paired him up with some Valentine's Day papers from last year. You can find the full selection of 6x6 paper pads including Valentine's designs HERE. The corners embellishments were cut with Fancy Flower and Key Corner Dies by SCACD. The flourishes were cut with a Memory Box Die. The pearls were created with a Viva Decor Pen. The dandelion fluff was touched with a bit of Stardust Stickles

"Moments" was stamped on Neenah in Memento Ink and coloured with Copics. The sky was sponged in with blue ink and hand cut cardstock cloud template.

Up next is "Me and My L'il Buddy" from the Oddly Sweet Curiousities Set 3. Dinosaurs are so much! The papers are from Authentique...again, HERE is the link to the paper selection at SCACD. The corners were cut with Classic Corner Dies by SCACD. The sentiment comes with the stamp, but remember that you can mix and match the sentiments and stamps from this set for lots of variety!

Me and My L'il Buddy was stamped in Memento Ink and coloured with Copics.

After you're done hopping today, make sure to head over to SCACD where the new stamps are all available for purchase! Our international friends can find them at Quixotic Paperie

SPECIAL NOTICE FOR MY FELLOW CANADIANS: It is with much regret that SCACD will no longer be shipping to Canada. Susana loves her loyal Canadian customers and has GREATLY appreciated each and every one of you over the years. However, USPS has recently significantly increased their shipping rates to Canada. They  have also changed their policies for preparing parcels for shipping, which has become very time consuming. She would LOVE to continue providing her customers with the amazing service they have come to appreciate, but these changes are out of her hands and unfortunately there is nothing she can do about them. So it is because of these factors that the decision was made to no longer ship to Canada. Quixotic Paperie will still be carrying the exclusive SCACD stamps and dies, so you can always purchase them there. Susana wishes to extend her heartfelt thanks for all the years of loyalty!!

It's now my pleasure to send you off to visit with the lovely and talented Kathi...happy hopping!!

Thanks for stopping by,

Melanie

Crafty Hodgepodge

Hi crafty friends!

I wanted to share an image I coloured this week. I haven't had a chance yet to include her on a finished project, but she was a lot of fun to colour. This is Earth Angel from the Guardian Angel collection at SCACD. I stamped her on Neenah cardstock with Memento Ink and coloured her with a combination of Copics and a couple of ShinHan markers. I also added some Stardust Stickles to her wings. The Guardian Angels are so sweet, and just perfect for so many different projects.

I also wanted to share a bookmark. I'm an avid reader. While I enjoy my e-reader, I do ultimately prefer the feel of an actual book in my hands. That being said, I never seem to have a bookmark to hold my place! I typically try to rely on my memory for the page I left off at...which never seems to work, lol. This old brain is getting more forgetful with each passing year! I took an Inksentials kraft tag and trimmed down the sides. I ran the tag through my Cuttlebug with a Couture Creations embossing folder and used brown ink to highlight the raised design. I tore a piece of Bo Bunny Gabrielle paper, crumpled it up and inked it before adhering it to the tag. I used the Uncaged Bird from Dies by SCACD and cut it out of craft cardstock. It was then coloured lightly with Copics. I wanted this to have a very muted, vintage feel. Bookmarks are fun to make, and typically whip up pretty fast. Since they have to remain " low profile", you really don't need to spend much time fussing with embellishments. They are also a great way to use up those little scraps of paper we all hold on to. ;)

Susana has recently added some great new products to the SCACD website. Here are just a few items you should definitely check out!

Thanks for stopping by!

Blessings,

Melanie
