"Marilyn" for SCACD

Hi folks! It's hard to believe we are already at the end of August. The older I get, the faster time seems to fly by! The kids are getting geared up for another school year. Nathan is enrolled at the college here and Ainsleigh will be going into grade 7. It's been a nice relaxing summer around here, but it's definitely time to get back to some structure!

Did you all know that Susana carries Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps at SCACD??? (Those of you who are frequent visitors here know that I LOVE my Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps as I'm also one of the Krafty Girls!) SCACD has several of the Old Hollywood stamps that were released back in July. (She also has some of the brand new August release in stock as well!) I'm pretty sure you can guess by the pose and dress that this lovely starlet is none other than Marilyn...isn't she gorgeous?? I love her...and she has just the right amount of "sass". :)  Now unfortunately, the papers I used here are no longer in stock, but Susana has an abundance of fantastic paper pads available HERE...and her prices are fabulous! The flourish was created with a die. SCACD carries a great flourish die by Memory Box called Elegant Scrollwork. The sentiment comes with Marilyn. In keeping with the "twinkle" sentiment, I added some rhinestones. The corner embellishments are Make It Crafty Chipboard. I love these chipboard embellishments as they are intricate and very versatile. They can be painted, inked, sprayed...I've simply inked their edges with a bit of brown ink so they coordinate with the kraft cardstock elements on the card.

The lovely Marilyn was stamped in Memento Ink and coloured with Copics. Her dress was actualy paper-pieced with pale pink paper. Colouring with pink is a challenge for me...I can never quite get it right. So I used the pink paper as my base colour and then just added some additional shading with Copics. Her dress was also given a lovely coat of Stardust Stickles for some added "twinkle".

You can find SCACD's entire stock of Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps HERE.

We're "Making a Scene" at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!

Hi folks! Hope you've all had a fantastic week. :)

It's time for another Kraftin' Kimmie Challenge and this week I get to play hostess! So my challenge for you is to "Make a Scene"...now often times, making a scene in public is frowned upon. But this rule totally does not apply with stamping! lol  You can create a scene using multiple stamps, by using die cut elements to create a setting or even drawing your own background. It's totally up to you, so let your creativity run a little wild. :)

Last week, we released a new crop of Halloween stamps. I love August at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps...I always look forward to seeing what the Krafty Artists have brewed up for our colouring pleasure. Halloween images are so much fun to play with. :)  So this put me in the mood to pull out some oldies-but-goodies...Hattie and Horace. I stamped them both out and then drew in a graveyard scene. It's been a while since I drew anything, so I am a bit rusty! That being said, I really enjoyed creating this scene. I first sketched the tombstones in with a pencil. When I was content with my design, I went over everything with a Copic multiliner. I set Hattie's tombstone at an angle to make it look like one of those old graveyards where the ground has settled kind of funny over the centuries. Horace's seems to have held its position a little better. :)  The papers are all from Authentique "Glowing". The corner embellishment was cut with the Madera Corner Memory Box Die. The pearls were all made with a Black Viva Decor Pearl Pen. Finishing touches were added with a Martha Stewart border punch and some machine stitching.

And here's the close-up. Hattie and Horace were stamped in Memento Ink on Neenah cardstock. As mentioned before, the tombstones were hand-drawn and outlined with a Copic multiliner. The entire picture was then coloured with Copics and additional shading was added with a black Conte crayon applied with a blending stump. I used a lot of warm greys throughout this picture for shading including throughout the grass to really tone down the intensity of the greens as it is supposed to be a night scene.

Ghost skin: W00, W1, W3, W5, W7  Hair: W00, W1, W3, E43, E47  Top Hat, Horace's err tail (???) and Sky: C1, C3, C5, C7, C9, 100  Vest: YR00, YR02, YR04, YR07, E08, E17, E18  Shirt: W00, B91, B93, B95, B97, B99 Dress: G20, G21, G25, G94, W5, W7, W9 (same B's as the shirt) Tombstones: W00, W01, W05, W07, W09, E42, E43  Grass: BV00, G21, G94, G99, W5, W7, W9

If you play along with the "Make a Scene" challenge this week, you could be the lucky winner of either Hattie or Horrace...winner's choice! Just make sure to use a Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp to be eligible. For more inspiration, make sure to pop by the KKS Blog to see the fantastic scenes created the very talented Krafty Girls!

This toilet paper mummy cracks me up. :)  Remember all those budget-friendly homemade costumes from back in the day?? lol  I pulled out some older Halloween papers which I believe were from Echo Park. All paper edges were sponged with black ink.The image frame was created with Spellbinders Labels 10. I also raided my first aide box for some mummy-friendy gauze wrap for the "ribbon". The little pumpkin is a button I picked up at the fabric store last year. The sentiment is one of the fabulous new Halloween Trinkets

It's Release Day at SCACD with new stamps from Elisabeth Bell for SCACD!

Hi folks! I must apologize for being MIA from blogging over the last month. Our family has had a busy schedule and so I decided to take most of July off from blogging. I will be taking it easy for August as well, but will be popping on to share a few things throughout the month. I will definitely be back in full swing for September. :)

Today get ready for a Cute and Cuddly release from Elisabeth Bell for SCACD!!!

Our first set, The Storybook Collection, brings us all back to those childhood days when our best friend was our beloved Teddy Bear. We all told our secrets to our Teddy Bears, had a few misunderstandings but we always made up and were ready for new adventures to unfold.

Next we have a set of 4 adorable little girls with their FUN hats that make up Sampler #6. Each little girl is bound to make you smile and melt your heart.

Our final set, Sampler #7, is a variety of cute and fun! These 4 little girls remind us all of the simple pleasures of childhood from lollipop dreams to playing in the rain.
If you've been following along, you should have arrived here after visiting with the lovely Kim. You can catch up on the SCACD Store blog if you lose your way through the hop because you will want to catch all the inspiration out there :)

My card today features the adorable "Umbrella Peeker" from the "Sampler #7". I think she's pretty stylin' in her cute raincoat, galoshes and umbrella...and her hair is looking fabulous! Mine NEVER looks that good out in the rain! lol  I used my Spellbinders Circles and Lacey Circles for cutting and matting the flowered paper. The corner embellishments were cut with a "Classic Corner Die" by SCACD. The papers were all distressed with my scissors and then sponged with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

"Umbrella Peeker" was coloured with a combination of Copic and ShinHan markers. I love that these two marker brands can be used together.

Skin: E000, E00, E11, R20 (Copics)  Hair: E50, E31, E33, E37, E59 (Copics) Coat, Boots and all other red areas: R11, R13, BR94 (ShinHans), C5, C7 and BV29 (Copics), Pants: BG0000, B91, B93, B95, B97, C5, C7, BV29 (Copics), Umbrella: YG00, YG03, YG25, G20, BG70, BG72, BG75, BG79, C7 (Copics)
