Crafty Hodgepodge

Hi crafty friends!

I wanted to share an image I coloured this week. I haven't had a chance yet to include her on a finished project, but she was a lot of fun to colour. This is Earth Angel from the Guardian Angel collection at SCACD. I stamped her on Neenah cardstock with Memento Ink and coloured her with a combination of Copics and a couple of ShinHan markers. I also added some Stardust Stickles to her wings. The Guardian Angels are so sweet, and just perfect for so many different projects.

I also wanted to share a bookmark. I'm an avid reader. While I enjoy my e-reader, I do ultimately prefer the feel of an actual book in my hands. That being said, I never seem to have a bookmark to hold my place! I typically try to rely on my memory for the page I left off at...which never seems to work, lol. This old brain is getting more forgetful with each passing year! I took an Inksentials kraft tag and trimmed down the sides. I ran the tag through my Cuttlebug with a Couture Creations embossing folder and used brown ink to highlight the raised design. I tore a piece of Bo Bunny Gabrielle paper, crumpled it up and inked it before adhering it to the tag. I used the Uncaged Bird from Dies by SCACD and cut it out of craft cardstock. It was then coloured lightly with Copics. I wanted this to have a very muted, vintage feel. Bookmarks are fun to make, and typically whip up pretty fast. Since they have to remain " low profile", you really don't need to spend much time fussing with embellishments. They are also a great way to use up those little scraps of paper we all hold on to. ;)

Susana has recently added some great new products to the SCACD website. Here are just a few items you should definitely check out!

Something Old, Something New

Hey krafty friends! Welcome to our weekly challenge with Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps! Our hostess this week is the lovely and talented Sharon!! And her challenge is Something Old, Something New!! So create a card, scrapbook page or altered item using something you've had for at least a year along with something brand new to you (could be stamp, paper, anything at all)! Get kreative!! Have some krafty fun and join us this week because we'd LOVE to see your KKS designs. We hope you can play along!!!

My card this week features "Arielle". I had yet to ink her up, so she's "new" to me for colouring. I also used this brand new wooden frame that my friend gave to me this week...how's that for new?! She picked it up at an arts and crafts store. It was painted and sponged with Antique Linen and Walnut Stain Distress Inks. To fit in with the "old" criteria of Sharon's challenge, I used some older Bo Bunny papers (Gabrielle) that were distressed with scissor edges and sponged with brown ink, an MFT die for the flourishes and some rhinestones I've had for ages. Machine stitching was added for a finishing touch.

Arielle was stamped on Neenah with Memento Ink and coloured with Copics. I also stamped the image on the design paper so that I didn't have to worry about cutting out the ropes for her swing. After fussy cutting the image, I adhered it to the stamped image on the design paper and allowed her legs to extend beyond the border of the frame. Whenever I fussy cut an image out, I always make sure to run around the edge of the paper with a dark grey marker to hide the white core. It just helps it to blend seamlessly onto your paper.

Skin: E000, E00, E11, RV95  Hair: E50, E31, E33, E37, E59, BV29  Clothing: R02, R05, R11, R59, E17, E18 ( these two browns were used for shading the pink areas), G00, BG72, BG75, C5, C7 (the greys were used for shading the teal areas)

Check out the wonderful creations by our Krafty Girls and Guests featuring this week's challenge over on the KKS blog!! If you join us and play along, you could WIN the gorgeous stamp, as featured on Sharon's beautiful card! (just make sure to use a KKS card to be eligible)

"Little Helper Angel"...an SCACD Valentine's Day tag.

Hi folks! I'm sharing a Valentine's Day tag featuring one of the Guardian Angels stamps from SCACD...I love these gorgeous images. They are so versatile...perfect for so many different occasions! This is "Little Helper Angel". I used an Inksentials Kraft Tag and some My Mind's Eye paper from last year. You can check out the amazing selection of 6x6 paper pads at SCACD  HERE. If you're looking specifically for Valentine's Day papers, you can find them in the holiday section HERE.  The pretty corner embellishment was cut with Fancy Flower and Key Corners from Dies by SCACD.

Little Helper Angel was stamped on Neenah in Memento ink and coloured with a combination of Copics and ShinHans. The ShinHan markers work beautifully...the ink lays down so nicely! They also work really well with Copics and are a wonderful compliment to your marker collection. The red shirt and accents were all coloured with ShinHan markers (R11, R13 and BR94), and I used my C5 and C7 Copics to add shading. Copics were used on the rest of the image. I also added some Stardust Stickles to her wings.

"Robot Boy"...Release Day at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps!

Good morning and welcome to the release day blog hop at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps! As you hop from blog to blog today, be sure to leave a comment at each and every stop because some lucky stampers will win packages of these incredible stamps from the new release!! (The complete hop list will be included at the end of my post. )

For my card today, I used my favourite of the new Nerds and Geeks by Annie Rodrigue. This is Robot Boy...isn't  he awesome?!  The papers were all distressed and sponged with black ink. The clockwork corner was created with the Alice's Clock Statement Corner die from Dies by SCACD. I didn't have any silver cardstock, so I painted it with some silver acrylic paint and sponged it with black ink. The gears are all from dismantled dollar store clocks. Yes I know you can buy "crafty" gears, but I figured I'd save a few dollars. :)  Only problem was that they were white plastic...not really the look I was going for with my card! So again, I reached for the silver craft paint to make them look like metal and then treated them to some black ink to grunge them up. I also added some metal corners that I've had in my stash for ages.

Robot Boy was stamped on Neenah in Memento Ink and coloured with Copics. I added a bit of Glossy Accents to his goggles.

On the back of my card, I used one of the amazing new Handmade Trinkets. This new set of trinkets is perfect for finishing off all your handmade gifts. :)  The trinket was stamped on kraft cardstock and I added a little banner for my name. It was cut out and matted with Spellbinders.

Don't forget to do some krafty shopping after the hop! As always, we have our Gimme Kimmies Kits available for those of you who ‘need it all’!! The stamps are grouped together by artist and are available at a discount, but only for a limited time!!

**ALSO we are having a Krafty Guest Contest right NOW! So if you'd like to submit, please check out this POST!

I used one of the characters I can completely identify with, the Bookworm! I have been an avid reader for as long as I can remember.  I devour them...if it's a captivating story, I have a really difficult time putting a book down. I've been know to read into the wee hours of the morning just to finish off a story. I can't help myself. :) The papers are an assortment of older sheets from a bin of scraps. The sentiment (which I LOVE!) comes with this stamp. The vines are cut with a Memory Box Die and the upper corner embellishments are Classic Corners Dies from SCACD.

We'd love to have you play along with the Anything Goes challenge this week...don't forget to use a Kraftin' Kimmie Stamp so you are eligible to win the stamps seen on Jenny's awesome creation this week!

Happy New Year with SCACD!

Hello and Happy New Year to all my crafty friends!! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season. :)

I'm sharing a card today featuring one of the Guardian Angels by Elizabeth Bell for SCACD...I absolutely love these angels. :) This is "Knowledge is Power Angel". She was cut out and matted with Spellbinders. The flourishes were created with the Elegant Scrollwork Memory Box Die. The pretty corner embellishment was cut with one of the Fancy Flower and Key Corner Dies by SCACD. The angel was stamped in Memento Ink and coloured with Copics. Her wings were given a coat of Stardust Stickles. For whatever reason, this card didn't want to photograph properly...in real life, both the purple cardstock and the coloured background do actually match the image and design paper. sigh. Guess you'll have to take my word for it! I also added some pears made with a Viva Decor pen.

Make sure to pop by SCACD to check out the amazing selection of products. Here are just a few suggestions:
