A Girlie-Girl Challenge (and another September KK Sneak Peek!)

September 11th will always be a day that we remember exactly what we were doing when the news broke nine years ago of the terrorist attack at The World Trade Centre. I remember sitting in disbelief and horror with my almost two year old daughter on my knee as the news unfolded on the television. My prayers today are for those of you who lost loved ones that tragic day. May your thoughts be focused on remembering treasured moments spent with those precious people, and may you find joy in those memories. May God touch your hearts with his healing hands, and may you find comfort in His presence and also in your beautiful memories.

Ok, time to switch gears a little now, as I suspect you stopped by today in anticipation of another sneak peek for the Kraftin' Kimmie September Release...have you been enjoying the previews? This release is full of some very glamorous gals and some cheeky little mice up to their usual antics! We'll be showing you another round of sneak peeks today for our weekly challenge on the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Blog. Miss Kraftin' Kimmie herself is the hostess for today's "Girlie-Girl" challenge. So, we'd like to see all things pink, sparkly and girlie this week!

As promised, I have a card to show you featuring one of the new September stamps by artist Annie Rodrigue...meet "Samantha"! This lovely gal is getting all dolled up for a night on the town. I trimmed Samantha down to have her fit into the circle frame I made with some of my Nesties. Her, ahem, undergarments were treated to a coat of Smooch Illuminate, as were her lips and lipstick. Her pretty compact was glitterfied with some Stardust Stickles. The brown paper has a glittery pink flower and the teal paper has glittery swirls. (both are from a MME glitter stack...unfortunately not much of the shimmer is showing up in the pics today, so you'll just have to take my word for it! Honestly, this card really does sparkle!) I bought that pretty pink paper from Fancy Pants (Little Sprout "Baby's Breath") specifically for this girly card on my last trip to Skribbles and Scraps. The sentiment "Glamor Girl" comes with another brand new September stamp named "Annette". All paper edges were sponged with Walnut Stain Distress Ink.

Kraftin' Kimmie September Sneak Peeks: Round 2!!

LOL..is there a limit on number of blog posts you're allowed to have in one day??? It's been a busy morning here on my blog, as I had to have three posts go live at different times. Thank goodness Blogger allows us to schedule our posts!

As mentioned, this is my third post for today, and it is for the upcoming September release at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps on this Sunday!! As always, Kimmie has a great lineup of brand new stamps and I know you're going to love each and every one! Yesterday, I showed you a card featuring two of the new stamps by artist Steven Leary. Today, I have another cutie-patootie Miles the Mouse stamp to show you...introducing "Cornucopia Miles"!

Our little pal Miles certainly seems to love his food...just look at that belly! I stamped the image on Neenah cardstock and coloured him with Copic markers. I used a cross-hatching stroke to give a bit of texture to the cornucopia. The papers are from The Paper Loft. I love these patterns and thought I'd just go with a very clean and simple layout so as not to cover up those fabulous fall leaves. The paper edges were all sponged with Walnut Stain Distress Ink, and the little pearls are from the dollar store. Oh, and that great little "Happy Feasting!" sentiment is part of the brand new "Thankful Sentiments" set that will also be released this Sunday!

Good morning...again! lol It's a busy day here on my blog, as I will have three posts in total...I think that's a new record for me! We have another new challenge at Wags 'n Whiskers Stamps today. Your hostess is the lovely Lacey and her challenge to you is to use Earthy Colours on your project this week. Thank you Lacey!! This challenge is right up my alley, as I LOVE earth tones!

I used "Millie With Cupcake" on my card today. I paired her up with some pretty October Afternoon papers. I didn't add much in the way of embellishments to keep the card "low profile", as I have been creating a set of cards with the Emma Metcalf line of Wags 'n Whiskers stamps...my plan is to package these cards up in a handmade box. (I guess I better give them to somebody who doesn't read my blog, or it won't be much of a surprise for them! lol)

Back to Business at The Town Scrapper!

Well, after a lovely summer hiatus it's back to business for the Scrapettes! We have a brand new recipe challenge over at The Town Scrapper Blog...1 cardstock colour, 2 design papers, 3 types of embellishments, 2 ribbons and 1 stamped image!

I used one of the The Town Scrapper's exclusive Victoria Case stamps named Rock Star Lola on my card today. I paired her up with some pretty design paper from October Afternoon that is also available at The Town Scrapper. For my embellishments, I used pearls, a brad and a punched border. (well, I also snuck in a bit of Stardust Stickles on her microphone and the swirly design on her jeans!) The paper edges were all sponged with Walnut Stain Distress Ink. Phebe carries several colours of Distress Ink...I love these inks and use them every chance I get!

Thought I would work on colouring red hair again. It's coming along, but I lost a few of the highlights I was trying to achieve...I over-blended a bit again. It's a learning curve though, and if you never work outside your comfort zone then you won't grow! Next on the list is blonde hair!

Gearing Up for anther Kraftin' Kimmie Release!!

Good morning folks! I hope your week has been great so far. How are you all coping with the back-to-school schedule? The kids are pretty happy to be back at school and hanging out with their friends...the only thing I don't like about this time of year is the whole lunch-packing ordeal. Sigh. Anybody else with me on that one??

It's almost time for the September release at Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps! Previews begin today, and will continue each day until our fabulous Release Day Blog Hop on Sunday, when you will also be able to purchase the new stamps! You can feast your eyes on some incredible sneak peeks each day by visiting the Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps Blog to see which Krafty Girls and Krafty Guests have something to show you.

Today, I have used two brand new stamps by artist Steven Leary. On the outside is "Birthday Friends"and on the inside is "Birthday Cake Overdose". The papers are all from a DCWV glitter stack. The images were stamped on Neenah cardstock and coloured with Copic markers. The icing was coated with Stardust Stickles and the sentiment is something I made up. Take a look:

And then we have the "after" shot. Miles has obviously over-indulged...just a teeny bit, huh? Lol...this image cracks me right up! 'Fess up friends...how many of you have felt exactly like this after a sweet treat??? I know I have!

I pulled out Snow White and paired her up with some of my favourite new Capella paper from Basic Grey. The last time I coloured Snow White, I used the traditional Disney colours. So this time, I wanted to give her a bit of a makeover, :). She is now a beautiful brunette clad in a lovely green gown. The sentiment comes with another Kraftin' Kimmie stamp called "Let's Do Lunch". I thought it was just perfect for Snow White!

Break out the Glitter at Wags 'n Whiskers!

Happy Friday stampers!! What a scorcher of a week we've had here in Southwestern Ontario. I am so done with hot humid weather. Bring on fall!!! lol This is also the last weekend of summer break for the kids...it's back to school next week! Our son Nathan is going into Grade 12 and our daughter Ainsleigh will be starting Grade 5...I cannot believe how fast they are growing up.

Well, we're back to having weekly challenges at Wags 'n Whiskers Stamps after a bit of a summer break. This week, our "Glitter" challenge is brought to us by the lovely Tracey. So break out your pretty glitters, Stickles, sparkle pens and glittery papers and lets get crafty!

The recently released Wags 'n Whiskers Fairies are just perfect for this Glitter challenge...after all, every fairy needs some sparkle you know. I pulled out cute little Hannah and stamped her out on Neenah cardstock with Memento Ink. After colouring her with my Copic markers, I added an abundance of my absolute favourite glittery accessory...Stardust Stickles! (although, it's not quite showing up as much in this picture) Hannah's outfit was paper-pieced, but I added additional shading with my markers to create some dimension. I decided to make a tag this week which is something I seldom do. I'm thinking I will have to start doing this more often, as it's a great way to use up some of your little scraps of paper. The little flowers from K&Company were also "Stickled". The sentiment is from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps. The pretty pink ribbon is May Arts silk ribbon (LOVE this stuff!) and it is available at Lacey's store Stamp and Create.

I recently received an email from a reader (Hi Patricia!!) asking me what colours I use for colouring red hair. To be honest, I rarely colour my images as redheads. I have attempted it a couple of times, but have never been happy with the result. So, I asked Patricia for a bit of time to play with some combination before answering her question. I am fairly happy with Hannah's hair, although it's still more auburn than red...I need to practice more. I also broke one of my big rules...I put cute little redheaded Hannah in pink...GASP! My family and friends know that I have issues with redheads wearing pink...I still pester my mom about dressing me in pink as a little girl, lol. Don't get me wrong, I love pink! Just not on redheaded me. lol
